The question type for this particular test asks us to label a map. We will first look at some tips before we do the test questions.
Make sure you complete Listening Section 1.1 first.
Labeling a Map | Understand the Instructions
Read the instructions for questions 9 - 11 carefully, and then answer the questions below with a word or number.
Where can the following buildings be found? Write the appropriate letter. 9.Queens head Pub _____
10.Car Showroom _____
11.Jim’s Motorbike Rental ______
The questions above might seem very easy to answer, however we often see people perform poorly in the listening test because they fail to read the instructions carefully. Make sure that you don’t throw points away by writing names when you must write letters. You must also be careful with this in the reading test.
Before you listen and answer the questions. Think about the following.
People who have a good understanding of prepositions of place and vocabulary connected to location (we will have a lesson for this soon) will do well at this type of activity.
|1.||Rental per day: 1) per day|
|2.||Rental per week: 2) per week|
|3.||Late return Fee: 3) per day|
|5.||Accessories: £30 per day 5) rental|
|6.||£25 per day for a single 6) (the bike can carry a maximum of three)|
|7.||Cover for theft or damage: 7) included in price|
|8.||8) cover at an additional price|
1) Jim says that 'We have a BMW F800 at £145 per day...'
2) '...or £650 per week.'
3) Jim says 'There is a late return fee on that of £250.'
4) 'The deposit for this model is £2000... Sorry, my mistake, its £1750...' Notice here that Jim corrects his first answer. You must be aware in the listening test that the speaker may correct themselves, so stay focused even if you think you already have the answer.
5) 'We have a helmet at £30 per day.' The word order here is different to the word order of the notes, but the meaning is of course the same.
6) '...a dry bag at £25 per day...'
7) Jim states 'The insurance is included in the price.' Notice that the notes don't include 'the' as we are writing in a note taking style.
8) Jim informs us that '...unless you go overseas. We have an extra rate for international trips.' This question is more difficult as it expects you to know that 'extra rate' has the same meaning as 'additional price'. 'Overseas' and 'international' are synonyms and either of them is an accepted answer.
As always, send us your questions in the comments section below.
Some people are for animal testing while others are against.
Discuss both sides and give your opinion?
Write at least 250 words.
|1.||Issues related to animal experimentation are frequently discussed these days, particularly in the media. It is often said that animals should not be used in testing it is cruel and unnecessary. This essay will examine the arguments for and against animal testing.|
|2.||, the people who support these experiments say that we must do tests on animals. , many famous lifesaving drugs were invented in this way, and animal experiments may help us to find more cures in the future. , possibly even a cure for cancer and AIDS. , the animals which are used are not usually wild but are bred especially for experiments. , they believe it is not true that animal experiments are responsible for reducing the number of wild animals on the planet.|
|3.||, others feel that there are good arguments against this. , animal experiments are unkind and cause animals a lot of pain. , they feel that many tests are not really important, and in fact animals are not only used to test new medicines but also new cosmetics, which could be tested on humans instead. Another issue is that sometimes an experiment on animals gives us the wrong result animals’ bodies are not exactly the same as our own. , this testing may not be providing the safety that its proponents claim.|
|4.||, I am of the opinion, on balance, that the benefits do not outweigh the disadvantages, and testing on animals should not continue. Although it may improve the lives of humans, it is not fair that animals should suffer in order to achieve this.|
